When Sam + Jake asked me to shoot there intimate elopement I freaaaaked out. I have been dying to shoot an elopement in Hawaii, but also every detail of this day just sounded perfect. They invited 20 of their favorite people to stay in a big house with them and just party for the weekend (and they invited me to stay for the weekend too!).
On their wedding day, it seemed like nothing was really going according to plan. It started POURING rain, and there some other minor hiccups here and there that just kept popping up in normal wedding day fashion. The boys drank Jameson (their fav) together as they helped each other tie their ties, and the girls had champagne as they got all dolled up. It was perfect and simple. The weather didn’t let up for the ceremony, and I just remember hearing Jake say “I don’t want an umbrella, who cares if it’s raining”. GOALS. All of their guests were troopers too, as they just sat there getting drenched, celebrating these two cuties.
As Sam walked down the (very wet) aisle, Jake’s face lit up like a Christmas tree. You could just feel the excitement between them. After the ceremony, we took a ton of pictures under this awning in front of the house. Then Jake + Sam said to me “Can we go play in the rain for some photos too”. WTF YES. So we went, they chased frogs, jumped in puddles, goofed around and snuggled, all while not even noticing the down pour.
By the end of the night, everyone was facing their booties off having a blast. Then Sam + Jake decided they wanted to end the night with a bang, and jumped into the pool, BELLY FLOP style. Then all of their friends + dad too, jumped in with them! hahaha it was FANTASTIC. These two were my dream couple from the start. They brushed off the nonsense and embraced the chaos, all with a FAT ASS smile on their face.
